Sunday, May 18

Arrive, check-in, play golf or hang out! Its our travel day and many come to just party.. it isn’t entirely about golf! Springmaid is where you hang banners and gather by the pool.

• Opening night -- You are in Myrtle Beach! Enjoy one of 1,600 restaurants and countless places to enjoy the nightlife. We'll have suggested restaurants and bars when you arrive at the Beach

Monday, May 19

Pairing Party 9 pm!! Golf during the day at choice of courses. Tee times requried. Come to Revolutions at Broadway at the Beach. Pairing boards up for your review. Drink specials and don’t forget to sing up for the BELLY FLOP CONTEST!

• 9:00 PM -- Pre-Party at REVOLUTIONS (Broadway on the Beach, Celebrity Square)
  • Pairing sheets for Tuesday and Wednesday will be posted.
  • Salute to Charleston Firefighters
  • Local radio and TV will be announcing the party so expect Myrtle Beach locals and vacationers to join us! This party has become a TRADITION around the Myrtle Beach area. You do not want to miss this night.

Tuesday, May 20

Noon shotgun. THE RONALDSON CUP, 6:00 PM The Belly Flop Contest at Springmaid Resort Pool. Loads of laughs and fun!

• 12:00 PM -- Shotgun starts on all golf courses. See the courses page for complete list of courses available and pricing.

  New for this year: The Ronaldson Cup! Teams of 4 (minimum of 3 firefighters on each team) TOTAL score for 18 holes will win the cup for a year. The cup will be given to winer engraved, the cup must be brought back for next year.

  • Logo Ball Competition...Team can buy a logo ball plus ONE insurance ball for $20 each. Each player MUST use the logo ball from tee to green at least 4 times (holes) during round! Team can choose 2 holes the ball can rest and not be played ...careful! Object....DO NOT LOOSE THE BALL! Return logo ball(s) and we enter it into a raffle. We will draw the wining ball for a FREE trip to next years event for 4!!!!!
  • GREAT STORY ABOUT the Logo Ball Competition....Team Newman chose their first hole, a par 3 with NO water, No woods and No Out of bounds. They handed the ball to Billy (the weakest player) and on the first swing of the day he shanked it dead right hitting the golf cart sending it flying 50 feet straight back into a pond.....DONE & DONE!
• 6:00 PM -- at Springmaid Resort -- THE JIMMY YOUNG MEMORIAL BELLY FLOP CONTEST
  • We have become family as so many sent condolences to the Young's after Jimmy's death! He was a character and larger than life. Jimmy loved the event and the people that came together to make it so special. It was Jimmy that said "These guys are the greatest people on earth!" Wednesday, May 21 -- THE "MAIN" EVENT

Springmaid will host the Picnic / Awards party...Starts at 4pm!

• 8:00 AM -- Shotgun Start on all golf courses. See the courses page for complete list of courses available and pricing.
  • This is a team best ball event!
  • Long Drive and Closest to the Pin Contests
  • Our now famous "HOLE GIRLS" will be out at each golf course. All of these ladies volunteer to give out our logo shirts and make you bet $$$. Each course adopts the ladies as their golf course buddies. Some of them are firefighters wives or friends and they do it for the LOVE of the event, its YOUR job to make them feel special and welcome.
• 4:00 PM -- Oceanfront at Springmaid Resort
  WELCOME TO THE PICNIC!!
  • Oceanfront with Steaks, Chicken, Budweiser and all the trimmings cooked on the grills by the volunteer staff of the Charleston Fire Department.
  • The event becomes clear at this point when we all gather and remember why we are here! We members of the FDNY will thank you all for being a part of the healing after 9-11-01.
    Never forget ....NEVER!

Our Reason

Kim Ronaldson lost her husband Al in 1991 during a fire in the Bronx. The Alfred E Ronaldson Golf Classic was formed in 1992 and for 10 years it grew into the world's largest golf outing. We ended it May of 2001. 128 days later, Sept. 11 changed our world!

Kim wanted the event to include you, all of you! So we moved the event to Myrtle. She is our guide and our heart of the event. Kim is as always the reason why we do this. Al was just a great guy, another firefighter that died in the line of duty. He symbolized what a firefighter should be and we will continue to have Al & Kim by our sides. In life, after its all said and done, the finest thing you can say about someone is "He was a good guy".

Our Mission

This event is used to thank you on behalf of the members of the FDNY for all you have done for us after September 11, 2001. You supported us, our families and did something that we will never forget...

...YOU helped RESCUE the FDNY. We want to keep that spirit alive and build the brotherhood of firefighters and friends around the world!

Proceeds from the event benefit the Thomas Elsasser Fund, established by Kevin Gallagher (then UFA president). This fund supports the firefighter family members of our "non-line" of duty deaths. The money helps these families whom are often overlooked by the press, public and other charities. We are firefighters....we take care of each other and our families.
